Design Symposium Wrap-Up

We were excited and honored to host some wonderful guests for our 3rd Design Symposium in conjunction with Design Philly. Our theme this year was "The Intersection of Makers Spaces: Analog + Digital." We invited our guests to speak about their practices and their experience with using digital tools to make tactile goods.

Liz Sytsma, the owner of Wild Hand, a fiber crafts supply shop, talked to us about her journey into crafts and community and how the two go hand in hand.

Steve Greenberg and Sheetal Khanna Ravich of Pointcarre Textile CAD software introduced us to their latest technological advancements. They can do wonders with a repeat!

Scott Kravet of Kravet Inc wowed us with a sampling of his impressive archive of fabrics. He is a true collector and expert in textile history. His company's collections are directly influenced by his travels to the celebrated textile hubs of the world.

Angi Domsitz of Woolmark talked to us about wool, and it's everlasting importance in the history and future of textiles and sustainability.

Carrie Collins, the creator, and owner of Fabric Horse, described how her community is her lifeforce. Her story illustrates the idea that lending a hand and sharing resources is not only returned 1000-fold but continues to reverberate throughout one's creative life.

We'd like to thank all of our presenters for their time and valuable information. We were all inspired by what we saw, and we look forward to our students joining their ranks as textile designers.
