2015 Career Discovery Workshop Exhibit

On Friday June 26, the participants in the 2015 Career Discovery Workshop presented their final body of work from the week.  They created a great range of textiles, sketches and draped garments, in addition to collaborating to develop a marketing plan.  Congratulations to everyone for their exciting work!  Please see the images below for a glimpse into the 2015 workshop.  Congratulations again to all!!

Career Discovery Workshop

Fifteen students interested in Textile Design, Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising joined PhilaU faculty and students for an intensive week-long workshop.  This hands-on studio experience provided participants the opportunity to explore a range of activities in each discipline.  Here are some images of the week in progress.  Check back for images of the final body of work. 

 

 

PhilaU Textile Design Work Featured in Surface Design Journal

Congratulations to Textile Design M.S. alumna Liz Weissert for the inclusion of her work in Surface Design Journal Spring 2015!  The article entitled Precise Expression: The Laser-Cut Edge featured an image of Liz's laser-cut linen textile with a leaf motif.   Here's a glimpse of Liz's work in the magazine.  Congrats, Liz!

Jacquard Textile Design Workshop

The PhilaU Textile Design department hosted a week-long jacquard (image-based weaving) workshop, June 1-5, 2015.  Participants learned how to translate images into woven jacquard textiles.  It was a fun, fast-paced week.  Please see the below images for a glimpse into the week's activities.  Great work was created by all!
